By sending us material to convert to digital you are agreeing to these terms and conditions in full.

Ordering and payment

Orders can be placed online through our secure online shop or by downloading and emailing the order form.

If you visit our shop you will have to pay by credit or debit card, but the process is quicker. By using the order form, you have the option of paying by cheque, cash(if you collect in person), debit or credit card over the phone or being invoiced.

Payment must be received in full before your order will be delivered.

We reserve the right to alter our prices without notice.

Getting your order to us

It is your responsibility when sending us your items for conversion to digital that they are adequatley protected against damage. PiciScan cannot accept responsibility for damage occurring to items as a result of poor packaging on your part.

All orders qualify for our secure courier, home collection service. This costs £8.49 or is free on all orders over £45. You should familiarise yourself with the collection procedure before making use of this service.

If you do not wish to make use of our collection service, then we recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery for sending your order to us.

Scanning

All negatives and slides are scanned at 2400dpi. This will typically produce a 7.2 mega pixel image.

All photos are scanned at 600dpi. The size of the image produced will depend on the size of the original photo. However, as a guide, a 7" x 5" photo will produce a 12 mega pixel image.

Negatives, slides and photographs are saved as jpeg files when scanned. We attempt to restore colours and correct exposure on all photographic scans but cannot guarantee the success of this.

End product

Images are saved to a personalised DVD-R printed with the image and text of your choice and presented in an 'unbreakable' jewel-case. This DVD-R is for use in your PC, MAC or laptop and cannot usually be used on your DVD player. If you would like to watch your memories on your DVD player, our SlideShow DVD service is available.

Home videos are converted to a DVD which can be watched on your DVD player. They are printed with the text of your choice and a screen capture from early on in the video. The front of the inlay will usually be printed with the same text and image. The reverse will be printed with four screen captures from various points during the video. The DVD will come in a full-size, white, DVD box. The rate quoted is per tape. We transfer one tape to each DVD, unless there is ample space to fit more than one tape. We do not convert copyrighted material found on video tapes to DVD, for example VHS copies of feature films that you may have purchased.

If you haven't indicated which image you would like printing on the front of the DVD-R, we will just print the first image we come to. If you haven't told us which text you want on the disc, we will normally print it with the phrase, "Family Memories."

Please use the comments box either on the order form or on the payments page of our shop to let us know your preferred disc title. To let us know which image you would like printing on the disc, please either separate it or describe it in some way.

Once we have returned your order, we will keep a copy of everything we have scanned and/or a copy of your video(s), that we have transferred to DVD, on our computer system for up to two months, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever is sooner. This will allow you time to have another copy made of your disc in case you lose the original.

Delivery of your order

The printed disc is delivered to you, free of charge, provided you have selected to have your order delivered by courier, together with your original photographs, slides, negatives, documents or videos.

We aim to deliver your order within 7 working days of receiving it, but do not guarantee this. This will be done through our courier, Hart Distribution (APC), or by Royal Mail Special Delivery, if you have requested this.

When your order is delivered, it will require a signature, so you will have to ensure that someone will be available to receive it. We will consult with you before returning your order to check when and where would be most convenient.

Return, secure courier delivery is free on all orders to mainland UK and is guaranteed by 4.00pm. Return delivery through Royal Mail costs from £9.00 to £28.00 depending on the size of your order and is guaranteed by 1.00pm.
